Lily felt lonely, beneath the bright sun, Near the swing set, no playmates, not one. Rusty red chains on a seat made of blue, Just swaying gently, with nothing to do.
Then stomping feet, a happy bark too, Mark came running, with his dog, trusty and true! "Lily," he shouted, "Why the long face? Let's swing together, and brighten this place!"
His dog, a brown terrier, with ears perky and tall, Wagged his tail wildly, wanting to join all. "Want to play, Lily? Give it a try!" Mark grinned widely, beneath the blue sky.
He pushed her gently, up, up so high, She giggled and laughed, reaching for the sky. The terrier barked, with happy delight, As Lily and Mark swung with all of their might.
Higher and higher, they soared through the air, Leaving behind worries and any despair. Mark took his turn, and Lily pushed hard, Laughter erupted, like a joyful award.
The sun slowly dipped, painting skies shades of rose, The terrier yawned, near the blossoming rose. "One last swing, Lily?" Mark said with a sigh, But really, they both wanted to swing to the sky!
They swung and they swung, until the light was all gone, Two happy friends, 'til the break of the dawn. They swung all day long, a friendship so true, Lily and Mark, and their terrier too!
