Lonely in the dark, a meadow deep and wide, Where crickets chirped and shadows loved to hide. No moon peeked through the trees so tall and grand, Just velvet blackness covering the land.
Firefly One, a tiny speck of green, Felt all alone, the saddest ever seen. His little light, a flicker in the gloom, He wished he had a friend to share the room.
Then, blink! A spark! Across the grassy space, A tiny point of light began to chase Away the dark. It danced and bobbed so free, Firefly Two, as happy as could be!
"Hello!" called One, his light now shining bright, "I'm glad you're here, to share this lonely night!" "Hello!" said Two, with twinkles in her eye, "Let's play a game and light up all the sky!"
They zipped and zoomed, a dazzling, bright display, Their tiny lanterns chasing night away. They drew bright circles, wrote their names in light, And laughed and giggled in the summer night.
They shared their secrets, whispered in the breeze, Of dewdrops sweet and rustling, leafy trees. They chased each other, up and down they flew, Two little fireflies, a friendship fresh and new.
Now, every night, when darkness fills the air, Their friendly lights are twinkling everywhere. No longer lonely, side by side they gleam, A bright friendship glows, a happy, shining dream!
